Scout: Jeremy Vercillo
Skating:
Pastujov is a weak skater. He's got a wide lumbering stride that is more fitting of a bigger guy. If something holds him back, it will be this.
Passing/Handling:
Pastujov is a great passer. The puck gets on and off of his stick quickly and accurately.
Shooting:
Pastujov has a great shot too. His wrister is hard and accurate, and he's able to tee up a one-timer from the flanks. If he can keep up in the NHL, he'll be a big scoring threat.
IQ (Vision, Anticipation, Panic/Poise):
He's got good hockey IQ, which allows him to be in good position, even if his speed isn't there.
Forechecking:
I didn't see much from Pastujov on the forecheck.
Defense:
Pastujov's defense isn't great, but it's passable. My big question is if he'll look more lost against NHL-level competition.
Best Asset:
Passing/Shot
Biggest Concern:
Skating
Top Tier/Role Potential:
2nd line scoring winger with PP time
Justification for Top Tier Assessment:
He's got the shot and the skills to create offense. I don't think he'll ever be a "complete" player, but may find a spot as an offense-first guy.
50th Percentile Tier/Role:
Tweener
Justification for 50th Percentile Tier Assessment:
If the footspeed isn't there, he won't have much of a shot. The game is just getting faster and faster and he already looks slow against AHLers.
Stylistic Comparable:
Daniel Sprong
Scouts Final Thoughts and Additional Stats/Info:
