Scout: Vezzy
Skating:
If I had to compare to the NHL level i would say he's average. Very compact skater, he wont speed around the whole ice but can get a good speed burst to enter the o-zone. Nothing "wow" in his skating but all around a good skater.
Passing/Handling:
It's where he excel, he has very good hands. He can manipulate and open passing lane with a deke or two. He's not small but he can battle for the puck and retrieve the puck easily with his smooth hands.
Shooting:
He doesn't shot much. As a lefty, he's used on the left side on the PP as a passer. He doesnt have a lot of power on his wrister but he can place it where he wants it.
IQ (Vision, Anticipation, Panic/Poise):
Combined with his great hands, he can read the play very well. He never look to be panicking with the puck. Instead he's smarth with the puck, usually do a curl back and take a second look at his options.
Forechecking:
Not much to say, he can hit the defender on the forecheck and usually apply good pressure.
Defense:
He's not a full two-way forward but he plays a very good 200 foot game. He's responsible with the puck. Competitive in his zone and always ready on the back check. Plays also on the PK
Best Asset:
Playmaking ability
Biggest Concern:
Lack of dynamism
Top Tier/Role Potential:
High Tier 2
Justification for Top Tier Assessment:
With a scoring winger, he could thrive on a first line. He won't put amazing BASH but could be a 70-80 points guy
50th Percentile Tier/Role:
Low tier 2
Justification for 50th Percentile Tier Assessment:
Like I said he doesnt have elite BASH in the junior level, he will play on a Top 6 in the NHL but how productive will his NHL line be, will dictate how good of a fantasy player he will become.
Stylistic Comparable:
Nick Suzuki
Scouts Final Thoughts and Additional Stats/Info:
Desnoyers skills should translate easily into the NHL as a top 6 player. He should go in the Top 10 at the next draft but not compete to get into the Top 5.
