Scout: Patrick Ploch
Skating:
Curran is an above average skater. He has plus speed and good agility
Passing/Handling:
Curran has average passing and handling. He is able to use it along with his skating to transport the puck through the neutral zone and set the stage for in zone cycling.
Shooting:
Max's gets shots on net but they are lacking in placement and deception which hinders him and will be even more the case at higher levels.
IQ (Vision, Anticipation, Panic/Poise):
Curran has average IQ as he is able to anticipate some, maintain poise and has ok vision but it isn't above average or elite.
Forechecking:
While he attempts to help keep the cycle going, this part of his game is not effective as it could be.
Defense:
Max is a dedicated defensive forward. He skates back hard helping with odd man breaks or stopping offense in the d zone.
Best Asset:
Skating
Biggest Concern:
Lack of dynamic play/higher end skill
Top Tier/Role Potential:
Bottom sixer
Justification for Top Tier Assessment:
Curran is a good skater with some playmaking ability and dedication to dedication that could be enough for a role lower in the lineup.
50th Percentile Tier/Role:
Good AHLer
Justification for 50th Percentile Tier Assessment:
There is some skill there and the skating is good but it's not a high level of skill.
Stylistic Comparable:
Tomas Plekanec
