Skating:

Lambert is an excellent skater. His skating enables him to be a trusted transporter of the puck up the ice.

Passing/Handling:

Lambert is a very capable passer and handler. His handling is evident when transporting the puck and he makes good passes.

Shooting:

Lambert has a shot that is most effective from the faceoff dots although his touch allowed him to score some goals in the paint.

IQ (Vision, Anticipation, Panic/Poise):

Unfortunately, Lambert's play doesn't show good vision or anticipation. He has poise but doesn't do well at foreseeing play. He often looks out of place.

Forechecking:

Lambert is not particularly adept at forechecking. He can help on the cycle but didn't show much evidence of being able to separate defenders from the puck. Likewise, defenders were often able to separate him from the puck.

Defense:

While he skates back defense it doesn't necessarily translate into engagement on defense. Rarely was he active involved in nullifying the other team's offense.

Best Asset:

His best asset is easily his puck transporting ability.

Biggest Concern:

Lack of hockey sense and defensive engagement.

Top Tier/Role Potential:

Top 6 winger

Justification for Top Tier Assessment:

Despite the deficiencies in his game, he scored at a .85 ppg pace in 64 games of his rookie AHL season. The skating, passing and shot are valuable skills that have already served him well and perhaps with time he can improve his hockey sense.

50th Percentile Tier/Role:

Bottom 6 winger that is a powerplay specialist

Justification for 50th Percentile Tier Assessment:

The deficiencies in his game limit him to a lesser role but he still has enough skill to contribute in the NHL.

Stylistic Comparable:

Perhaps a more offensively skilled Michael Grabner

Scouts Final Thoughts and Additional Stats/Info:

Despite the deficiencies in his game I think he will find his way to the NHL and be a middle six winger.
