Scout: Patrick Ploch
Skating:
Lakovic's skating is average. It doesn't standout as a strength or a weakness.
Passing/Handling:
Lynden is a decent passer and handler. He shows flashes of good passing and handling as well as the ability to transport the puck through the neutral zone.
Shooting:
Lakovic has a hard direct shot that is generally very effective but could use some work to make it a little more deceptive.
IQ (Vision, Anticipation, Panic/Poise):
He has average hockey IQ. There are moments of good vision but I didn't see a lot anticipation. He does stay calm.
Forechecking:
Lynden puts forth a good effort but the stick work is lacking to separate the defender from the puck.
Defense:
The effort is there to play good defense but the effectiveness is lacking. He often loses board battles and doesn't often come away with the puck.
Best Asset:
I would say his best asset is his shot but the flashes of passing and handling point to possible well rounded offensive games.
Biggest Concern:
For me, I think the biggest concern is the hockey IQ isn't better. Perhaps the lack of physicality considering his size.
Top Tier/Role Potential:
Second line and first power play.
Justification for Top Tier Assessment:
Lakovic isn't a dynamic forward but he is solid enough that he could be a second line winger.
50th Percentile Tier/Role:
A 3rd line winger and PP2
Justification for 50th Percentile Tier Assessment:
There a good overall toolkit that should provide a decent baseline and ability to make it to the NHL in a lesser role.
Stylistic Comparable:
Owen Tippett is perhaps a good comparable. Both have decent size with good shots and the ability to pass.
Scouts Final Thoughts and Additional Stats/Info:
Considering he is 6'4" and 190 I was surprised at the lack of physical play.
Games Scouted:
Moose Jaw Warriors v Swift Current Broncos (10/19), v Tri-City American (11/23), v Medicine Hat Tigers (12/13)
