Scout: Puneet Sharma
Skating:
Smooth and mobile with standout lateral agility—his skating is the backbone of his game.
Effortless transitions from defense to offense, making him a threat both ways.
Agile footwork helps him stick to attackers and pivot quickly to close gaps.
Passing/Handling:
Good vision, threading pucks through tight spaces with precision.
Reliable under pressure; handles the puck like it’s glued to his stick.
Confident in quarterbacking on the power play, distributing with poise and accuracy.
Shooting:
Shooting isn’t his calling card, but he’s no slouch—smart and strategic with his shots.
Focuses on generating rebounds or tipping chances rather than lighting up the highlight reel.
Could use a bit more velocity to elevate his offensive impact.
IQ (Vision, Anticipation, Panic/Poise):
This kid’s brain might as well be his superpower.
Offensively, he’s always one step ahead, spotting plays before they develop.
Defensively, his anticipation is rock-solid, and he rarely panics—even in high-pressure situations
Forechecking:
Not a traditional forechecker, but his quick reads and agility make him disruptive in the neutral zone.
Knows how to step up and cut off passing lanes effectively when needed
Defense:
Strong on the rush—flawless gap control and aggressive yet calculated closing.
Sticks like glue to his check, using his positioning and footwork to drive attackers wide or into the boards.
In zone he is calm and structured, using his stick and body positioning to neutralize threats
Best Asset:
Skating is smooth
Good balance of aggression and control.
Solid multi-cat player, knows how and when to lay the hits and be physical
Biggest Concern:
From a general standpoint he could at times use more power and consistency – would only round out his game
Top Tier/Role Potential:
Potential for a top pairing Defensemen with PP quarterbacking capabilities.
Justification for Top Tier Assessment:
Hockey IQ and composure is solid.
Elite-level passing and puck distribution skills.
50th Percentile Tier/Role:
At the very least at a top 4 D-man with 2nd PP work who can also play as a shutdown defensemen.
Justification for 50th Percentile Tier Assessment:
Consistency on a game to game basis is off
Stylistic Comparable:
Somewhere between Torey Krug and Hampus Lindholm—puck-moving defensemen with the IQ, mobility, and smart plays on both ends of the ice.
