Scout: Jeremy Vercillo
Skating:
He won't burn anyone, but he isn't a bad skater. His stride is long and powerful.
Passing/Handling:
He makes a good first breakout pass but won't create something out of nothing. Is good at making the expected play, owing to a high IQ.
Shooting:
Frustrating shot selection. He needs to get better at not hitting legs in front of him, or just not taking those shots. At the OHL level he showed more offensive prowess, but I think that may be because his team wasn't very good.
IQ (Vision, Anticipation, Panic/Poise):
His IQ is good, especially in the D zone. He could be a bit better making decisions under pressure.
Forechecking:
N/A
Defense:
His physicality and spacing in the zone are noticeable. He plays a hard-nosed game and is good at clearing the front of the net.
Best Asset:
In-zone defense
Biggest Concern:
Offensive game
Top Tier/Role Potential:
Could be a really nice shutdown D
Justification for Top Tier Assessment:
The defensive skillset and IQ is there, just needs to continue honing his game at higher levels
50th Percentile Tier/Role:
6/7D
Justification for 50th Percentile Tier Assessment:
He's got a lot of desirable traits, so I think he'll get chances in the NHL, but may struggle to stick with a team.
Stylistic Comparable:
Chris Tanev
Scouts Final Thoughts and Additional Stats/Info:
